Coronavirus Still Exists, Here Are 5 Ways To Prevent It!

Coronavirus has attacked thousands of people in various countries and claimed hundreds of lives. In order not to be exposed to this infectious disease that is endemic, there are several ways that can be done to prevent transmission of the coronavirus.

The cause of this outbreak is a new type of coronavirus that you can call the novel coronavirus 2019 (2019-nCoV). This disease belongs to the same group of viruses as the viruses that cause severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle-East respiratory syndrome (MERS).

Steps to Prevent Corona Virus Transmission

The virus is thought from animals, such as bats and camels, and can be transmitted from animals to humans, as well as from humans to humans. Transmission between humans is most likely through splashes of sputum when coughing or sneezing.

When infected with the Coronavirus, a person will experience flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough, and runny nose. However, a few days later, people with coronavirus infection can experience shortness of breath due to infection in the lungs (pneumonia).

Until now, there is no treatment that can cure Coronavirus infection. Therefore, the World Health Organization (WHO) appeals to the public not to take this disease lightly and to always take preventive measures.

Some steps that can be taken to prevent infection with the Coronavirus are:

1. Wash your hands properly

Washing your hands properly is the simplest but most effective way to prevent the spread of the 2019-nCoV virus. Wash your hands with running water and soap for at least 20 seconds. Make sure you wash all parts of your hands, including the backs of your hands, wrists, between your fingers and nails.

If it’s hard to find soap and water, you can clean your hands with hand sanitizer. Use hand sanitizer products with a minimum alcohol content of 60% to be more effective at eradicating germs.

Wash your hands regularly, especially before and after eating, after using the toilet, after touching animals, taking out the trash, and after coughing or sneezing.

2. Use a mask when doing activities

There are two types of masks that you can use to prevent transmission of the Coronavirus, namely surgical masks and N95 masks.

Surgical masks or surgical masks are disposable masks. These masks are easy to find, affordable, and comfortable to wear, so many people use these masks during their daily activities.

The correct way to wear a surgical mask is that the colored side of the mask should face outwards, while the white inner side faces the face and covers the chin, nose, and mouth. The white side is from a material that can absorb dirt and filter germs from the air.

Although not completely effective at preventing exposure to germs, the use of this mask can still reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases, including Coronavirus infection.

While the N95 mask is a type of mask specifically for filtering harmful particles in the air. This type of mask is actually more recommended to prevent Coronavirus infection. However, this mask is less comfortable to wear every day and the price is relatively expensive.

When removing the mask from the face, both surgical masks, and N95 masks, avoid touching the front of the mask. It is because that part is full of attached germs. After removing the mask, wash your hands with soap or hand sanitizer, so that your hands are clean of germs that stick to them.

4. Don’t go to infected countries

Not only China, the Coronavirus infection has now also spread to several other countries. For example, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, the United States, and Europe. The Coronavirus also spread in many countries in Asia. For example, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

The new type of coronavirus is originating from certain animals, such as bats, camels, and cats. Therefore, avoid consuming these animals.

If you want to eat meat or fish, make sure you wash and cook the meat or fish. Avoid eating meat or fish that are not fresh or rotten.
